PORT LOUIS, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — Stock Exchange of Mauritius equity ended today’s trading session in red with the equity market capitalization closed lower at MUR 212.878 billion by losing MUR 247 million (about US$6.92 million) compared to previous market capitalization of MUR 213.125 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) reduced by 0.12 percent or 2.22 points to close at 1,911.59 and SEM10 index declined by 0.13 percent or 0.48 points to end at 364.60 points. From the market activity viewpoint, the overall total volume trade ended at 5,809,106 (a rise relative to volume of 5,601,630 recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 46.459 million (an increase relative to MUR 44.511 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 3,661,153 (about 63.02 percent of total volume) at MUR 3.079 million and New Mauritius Hotel registered 1,706,556 traded stocks amounted to MUR 30.718 million. CIEL Limited had 160,664 at MUR 1.079 million and ALTEO Limited recorded a total volume of 70,545 shares at MUR 2.399 million. Sun Resorts Limited also recorded 62,652 shares at MUR 2.321 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 23 traded securities there were 5 price gainers and 5 price losers, hence the market sentiment ended neutral. CIEL Limited soared by 1.20 percent to end at MUR 6.72, TERRA Limited ended at MUR 29.80 after adding 1.02 percent and OMNICANE Limited climbed by 0.73 percent to close at MUR 69.00. Lux Island Resorts Limited gained by 0.40 percent at MUR 62.75 and Sun Resorts Limited grew by 0.14 percent to settle at MUR 37.05
Conversely, LOTTOTECH Limited ended at MUR 3.72 after losing 3.12 percent, Mauritius Union Assurance Limited sagged by 1.47 percent to settle at MUR 67.00 and SMB Holdings slumped by 1.18 percent to close at MUR 0.84. CAUDAN Development Limited plummeted by 0.76 percent to trade at MUR 1.30 and MCB Group slipped by 0.24 percent to end at MUR 206.50.
The DEMEX index ended at 207.98 points after sagged by 0.06 points or 0.03 percent. The market capitalization lost MUR 15 million to close at MUR 51.138 billion (relative to MUR 51.153 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 3.432 million exchanged in 229,647 traded securities. SODIA surged by 3.12 percent to trade at MUR 0.33, CIEL Textile Limited grew by 0.51 percent to settle at MUR 39.40 and ENL Investment surged by 0.10 percent to end MUR 49.20. Whereas, Constance sagged by 7.11 percent to settle at MUR 111.00.
